Toyota Tacoma headlight bulb replacement

The Toyota Tacoma is a popular mid-size pickup truck manufactured by the Japanese automaker, Toyota. It has been produced in the US since 1995 and is currently in its fourth generation (2005).

One of the best features of any Toyota Tacoma is its headlights; it’s extremely convenient to have two separate lights for low and high beams.

Its robust design, combined with a well-thought-out interior, offers a comfortable and practical driving experience.

The truck’s towing capacity and off-road capabilities are further enhanced by a range of engines, including a more fuel-efficient four-cylinder option and a powerful V6 for those requiring extra grunt.

Safety features, such as forward-collision warning and automated emergency braking, come standard, showcasing Toyota’s commitment to driver and passenger safety.

The Tacoma, with its combination of durability, performance, and advanced features, continues to be a top choice in its class.

Many other trucks can only see high if their low beam is turned on creating a major inconvenience for drivers to either turn their lights off or drive with both on.

Other great attributes of these headlight are they are projector style which gives them a clean crisp look without being too bright, especially at night time.

Some of the most common complaints on older Toyota Tacoma’s is that their headlights seem dim and dull. This is a very common problem and can be fixed with some minor adjustments.

First, you need to get to the back of your headlight by removing some screws. There should be six in total; three along the top and two more while looking from the front of the headlight, located where the hood latches onto the radiator (see image below).

Also, if there are any screws on either side of your headlight remove them as well; they do not pertain to anything other than holding down plastic moldings.

Now that you have removed all these screws gently pull forward on your headlights (don’t pull too hard). You should now be able to see inside your headlight housing.

At the back of your headlight are another set of screws holding in place two pieces that hold up your bulb (see image below). Remove these screws and then push down on the pieces, they may feel a little stiff but don’t force them if this is not working.

Once you have done this gently pull outwards on the headlight again to remove it from its casing. You will notice there are two black plastic pieces surrounding where the light bulb is located. At the end of these pieces that hold on your headlight is a rubber protector which you can now pull out.

Now gently pull outwards on the black plastic pieces holding your headlight bulb. Now look at the back of the light bulb you should see a white ring with red and blue dots. You want to get a pointy object or screwdriver and put pressure on the white dot then turn clockwise until it stops (see image below).

Once you have done this push down on the black plastic piece again and reinsert into your housing; also go ahead and insert your new headlight in. Push up on the headlight to secure it in place, replace all screws and you’re all set!

These headlights have been known to glare drivers from cars behind them causing horrible headaches – not fun!

If you want to upgrade your interior headlights with (Light Emitting Discharge) LED bulbs, halogen bulbs, or any other, approach a reputable dealer near you. In the same way, do the same if you need to replace your headlight with HID headlight kit or Xenon headlight kit.

However, before you make such a move, ensure you have a clear picture of what you want. That’ll make it much easier for you to get the right information.

Aftermarket light bulbs

There are lots of aftermarket headlights that you meet your various needs. If you get the H11 fog light upgrade, it will also work quite well with your 3rd generation H11 low beam headlight bulbs.  Increase the light output, and you’ll be able to use the highest quality Halogen bulbs by turning up the power to 11 and dropping the resistance. With this upgrade, you can expect a measured 2x enhancement over stock.

The Morimoto XB LED fog light conversion has a high output. The advertised one is 2,400 lumens. However, a closer read indicates its 1,200 raw lumens a side. These figures show this particular upgrade leads to a 100 percent improvement over stock.

The difference between aftermarket fog lights and OEM H11 fogs is that the latter project at a side angle of 75 degrees.  On the other hand, the aftermarkets are approximately 47 degrees.

Other aftermarket fog housings, such as Spyder projector fogs, can also offer you excellent service. However, most players in the market consider that their beam pattern and quality are not equivalent to OEM and results in poorer lighting performance. This suggests that they are of low quality.

Remember, you can use an HID headlight kit or Xenon headlight kit and get a perfect headlight upgrade. All you need increased visibility of your car when conditions on the road are not favorable. In all, whichever aftermarket headlight or any other product you choose, you should know how to install it.
