If you want a small and cheap family car that offers a lot of space inside, the Honda Fit might be the only choice. Honda’s packaging is probably the best in the business – you’ll be amazed at how much space there’s inside. However, what’s not so amazing are Fit’s headlights, which are one of the most underpowered in the business.
If you’re between the thousands Fit owners that are not satisfied with the headlight performance, don’t worry – we’ve got you covered. Here we’re going to talk about ways of improving night visibility in your Honda Fit, easily. In other words, only by changing your bulbs.
For those Honda Fit owners dissatisfied with their vehicle’s headlight performance, there’s no need to fret – enhancing night visibility can be both straightforward and effective. Our focus here is on simple bulb upgrades that can make a significant difference. We’ll guide you through selecting the right bulbs for your Fit, considering factors like brightness, color temperature, and longevity.
Whether it’s upgrading to brighter halogens, efficient LEDs, or the more intense illumination of HIDs, each option will be explored in detail. We’ll also provide step-by-step instructions on how to safely and efficiently replace the bulbs yourself, saving time and money. This guide aims to empower Fit owners to not only improve their night driving experience but also to add a touch of personal style to their cars with minimal effort.

How to find the right headlight bulbs for Honda Fit?
Okay, the way we’ve presented it, it seems like you should just go and buy whatever bulbs and put them into the headlight assembly. Well, wrong. You still need to pay attention to the headlight bulb type. In order to be absolutely sure that you’ll get the right headlight bulbs, read the owner’s manual.
Or remove the bulb first and see if it fits with the bulb you’re replacing it with. They should look exactly the same, no matter the type – halogen, HID or LED. That said, from all the information we gathered on the Fit, it uses the same 9003 type bulb for both the high beam and low beam.
How to upgrade the headlights on the Honda Fit?
Here comes the part when we tell you how to get better visibility in the deepest of nights. HID bulbs are the best possible upgrade in our opinion – they produce stronger light, reach farther and last longer than halogen bulbs.
That said, they may be expensive for some Fit owners (this is an economy vehicle after all), and for those we recommend buying high-quality halogen bulbs from reputable manufacturers. Just remember to match the power output your Honda Fit can provide (you can find it into the owner’s manual).
LED bulbs are the new kids on the block. They produce brighter light and consume much less energy, but due to their design, most of them can’t reach as far as halogen or HID lamps. In other words, the area that’s closer to you will be illuminated with much more brightness, but the light won’t reach far away. Great for urban conditions, but not so great for driving on the highway.
To fully improve the headlights intensity on your Fit, we recommend buying full projector headlights. These will work much better with HID bulbs than your normal headlights, due to the way they are dispersing the light on the road.
Another way to improve some visibility traits are add-on LED daytime lights or LED strips. Both of these can only be used as daytime lights or fog lights in some situations. They make your car visible from far away though, and in some situations can make the Fit stand out from the crowd.
What color temperature od headlights to choose?
Apart from choosing the right headlight bulb type, and the way it produces the light, you should also consider the color temperature. In other words, how warm or cold the light they produce is. Color temperature not only changes how the headlight is behaving in nighttime driving but also how the Honda Fit looks. In our experience, the 3000K bulbs should only be used as fog lights and you should go higher for the main headlights.
4300K bulbs are considered natural white and are good for general driving, but they leave a lot to be desired on the looks front. 5000-6000K look much better with cooler, pure white light and tend to work better in the night. 7000-8000K bulbs are even cooler in appearance, looking almost blueish. If you are into that, you will not lose much in the performance department.
