How to upgrade the headlights on the Honda Odyssey?
First, let’s talk about how to keep them in the best shape, shall we? To do that, we recommend replacing the broken bulbs only with high-quality bulbs from reputable manufacturers. Sure, you’ll pay more, but these bulbs last longer, which means that they are cheaper in the long run.
An even better alternative is HID bulbs, the same that you would put in Xenon headlights. These bulbs produce brighter light and last even longer, which makes that a great substitute of halogen bulbs. However, they are not cheap, especially when purchased together with a conversion kit, which is a must if you want them to work in the first place.
In the past few years, LED headlight bulbs are all the craze. They claim that they produce an even brighter light than HID bulbs, while also spending less energy. While this is definitely true, in reality, they don’t work great with the existing headlight housing. The light will be brighter, but it won’t reach as far.
In order to really upgrade your headlights, why not replace them with aftermarket headlights? There are high-quality options for the Odyssey available, especially for the last generation. These aftermarket headlights come with projection housing that works great with HID and LED bulbs.
Light bulbs replacement guide
As with almost any other Honda vehicle, replacing the headlight bulbs on the Odyssey is very easy and can be done on the go. Just follow these steps:
- Press the release tab on the electrical connector and remove it from the base of the bulb
- Rotate the bulb counterclockwise around ¼ and then pull it out of the housing
- Insert the new bulb in the housing and turn clockwise until it “clicks”
- Reconnect the electrical connector to the base of the bulb
