For your Dodge RAM 1500, you can choose from a wide selection of headlights that are suitable for your lighting needs. Below is a list of different kinds of headlights and the benefits they offer:
Factory Headlights – Factory headlamp assemblies have been designed with care to provide years of service for your Dodge RAM 1500. The factory LEDs have an alluring design that complements the exterior styling of this vehicle. They also come in a variety of light bulbs, color temperatures, and beam patterns that turn some heads at night. However, they tend to be expensive when compared to aftermarket lights. And some opt not to use these headlights since some claim that their lighting output is not as bright as aftermarket LED lights produce. On top of this, their design does not allow for a lot of custom options.
Halos – These headlights are also known as Halo Lights and they have been around for several years now. They have been drawing in rave reviews from the owners of Dodge RAM 1500. They provide excellent illumination that even when viewed from afar appears to be just an ordinary headlight. However, these lights come with a hefty price tag due to the increased retail cost over natural LEDs along with high labor costs associated with installation. The third drawback is that some people complain about being blinded by oncoming traffic when using the halogen light at night. Halogen lights can be dangerous to others since they tend to reflect harshly in other drivers’ eyes during nighttime driving.
LED Headlights – LED headlights, as the name implies, are actually built from LEDs. These lights have been around since the 1990s and early 2000s when they were first used in camera flashes. In recent years, their use has been extended to headlights but not without several alterations made to make them function more efficiently for this purpose. The major advantage of LED lights is that they are compact making it easier for designers to fit them into smaller spaces while only taking up a few circuits on your vehicle’s electrical system. They also produce very little heat which leads one to believe that these lights will last longer than other kinds of lighting assemblies.
One drawback associated with LED lights is that they tend to be more expensive than halogen or Xenon bulbs.
Do you know that the 2018 Ram 1500 and the 2017 Ram 1500 belong to the same manufacturing generation? In most cases, they use the same bulb types. And since there are no indications of substantial changes soon, this Dodge RAM 1500 headlight bulb replacement will still serve your needs this year. Keep an eye on this the information we provide here. You’ll find the best HID and LED bulbs recommendations for your present car.
As an informed vehicle owner, you most likely appreciate by now that nothing substantial has changed in terms of lighting for this particular model from 2016. It uses 9005 halogen bulbs for the low beam lightings. If you have a 2017 Ram with projectors, you can get the most from it by using the appropriate HID headlight kit. It’ll upgrade your lights to HID.
Fortunately, with a Ram specific kit, whether it’s a Xenon headlight kit, you don’t have to wire up the complex relay harness or resistors that can destroy your engine bay.
You can make some minor modifications to the vehicle’s OEM dust cover. How? Drill a hole in the dust cover wire that goes through your headlights to the ballast. Once you’ve done that, use the grommet that comes with the 2017 Ram 1500 HID kit to reseal your headlight housings.

Actual bulb applications and types vary from vehicle to vehicle. Consult your car dealership or vehicle owner’s manual for the correct bulb information.
Aftermarket Light Bulbs: Upgrade Options
There was no much change in the Dodge RAM 1500 lighting system for the models built between 2016 and 2018. More substantial differences are expected in the 2019 and 2020 model years. The 2017 model comes with 9005 halogen headlight bulbs for its low beams and optional OEM projector headlight housings.
The projectors can be upgraded to High Intensity Discharge lights. The XenonDepot Ram kit, for example, is a good option for it does not require complicated wiring or resistors that can cause damage to your engine components. The only change required is to drill a hole through the OEM dust cover in order to run a wire that connects the ballast and the OEM headlight harness. There’s a grommet included within the kit that allows you to reseal the headlight housing after drilling.
Other light options include the 9006 Xtreme LEDs for your fog lights and the Supernova V.4 1,740 Lux. The latter produce up to 600% more light compared to the factory halogen lights. They provide the perfect beam and style for your Dodge Ram 1500.
Another great aftermarket option is the NightEYE 1,010 Lux produced by the Chinese company NightEYE. They claim to produce up to 6,000 lumens of light. However, the Supernova does way better and produces only 3,600 lumens. It’s beam pattern, however, might dangerous to other drivers. It also misses a hot spot making it a product of poor engineering.
Despite the beam pattern being unreliable, the NightEYE Novsight bulb produces about 390 max lux that goes up to 25 feet. It’s also brighter than the original halogen bulb.
If you want to invest in aftermarket headlights, consider if you’ll get value for your money. Your stock clusters will feature two halogen bulbs. And your RAM will also have the single turning blinker bulb that may face a high risk of wear and malfunction. Despite the fact that Dodge has undergone significant upgrades in the last few years, it still depends on decades-old halogen projectors. And you’ll get very little visibility from your fog light irrespective of your Dodge RAM headlight bulb size or headlight bulb size.
Not only that. Experience has proven that headlights are often some of the first mechanical parts in the car to break down. You see. This means your investment on headlights may be high and become frustrating at any point.
The major challenge is that you may notice that your headlights are malfunctioning when it’s very late. The only way you can have greater vision to maneuver around obstacles in the middle of the night is to install quality bulbs and replace them from time to time.
Remember, your halogen bulbs will produce up to 2350 lumen. On the other hand, your low-end LED low beam kit will produce as much as 4000 lumens. HID and LED bulbs also utilize significantly lower amounts of power than halogen bulbs. Smart and elegant upgrades will offer you the low beam or high beam lighting solution that you need.

Aftermarket Light Bulbs
Choose the best aftermarket headlights so as to gain greater off-roading performance. Consider the luminous and long-lasting HID Conversion kits as well as LED lamps. If you compare them with the stock 1500 halogen lamps, you’ll notice these kits are almost twice as bright and clearer.
The HID bulbs produce up to three times more light output within the same power consumption level. They use xenon gas bulbs which operate at an extremely high temperature. And such bulbs will give you a very bright, white color of light that is closer to natural daylight than any stock RAM 1500 lamps.
The LED bulbs last on average 5 times longer than the halogen lamps do – you’ll see 20-30k hours which is about 18 years if it’s on for 8 hours daily! However, their luminous intensity stays almost the same throughout their lifetime so they are not as bright to start with.
The HID bulbs are brighter and whiter than the standard bulbs which produce about 2000 lumens of light output at a temperature level of 3000K and 3500K. The LED lights produce about 800-900 lumens per bulb, depending on the model and their respective operating voltage. So you can upgrade your RAM 1500 halogen bulbs to HIDs or LEDs for better performance when driving off the road in pitch darkness. Both options will also give you a much safer drive at night time or in foggy weather!
To sum up, the LED bulbs are brighter than the standard bulbs, but they won’t show you as much on dark roads. The HID lights will give you greater illumination of the road surface, but it uses more power to do so.
If you desire to get a more dynamic and luxurious look, try smoked out black headlight bulbs as well as LED Dayliner strip. Your classic car doesn’t have to be the same with every other factory-made truck.

light bulbs are excellent for lighting the home but stay away from incandescent lamps because they create so significantly heat
To fling the lights brightly is a quick way to let truck owners know when they can use the driver side sunroofs, but the setting is also a critical measure of truck quality. The light flickering is mainly generated by the bulb. An LED bulb is mechanically based on a double-flickering laser.

You should see large lenses in your headlight assembly
Lately I have seen vehicles with extremely bright lights. To the point they blind on coming vehicles. Drivers should check before buying lights that are different than the factory installed. Highway regulatory law on headlights, says you can not change or modify the original lights that were installed on your vehicle. You must put replace with the same candle power and must be clear or white in color.
They can not be blue.
